
Witch’s Rock Surf Safari departs from Playas del Coco every day if we have good weather conditions and a good swell in the area. The boat is a 28-ft boat with twin 225-hp outboards, a toilet, and a sweet-water shower. The ride to Santa Rosa National Park, where this spot is located, takes around 45 minutes to get there. The captain is fully bilingual and an expert surfer at Witch’s Rock.
Witch’s Rock Surf Safari departs daily from Playas del Coco; if you are in Tamarindo Beach, Playa Grande, or another location, you must be in Playas del Coco by 7:00 am (a one-hour drive).
Witch’s Rock Surf Safari (Roca Bruja in Spanish) is a trip that all pro surfers should take during their stay in Guanacaste. This renowned surf break is located at the Santa Rosa National Park. The beach offers you a sandy bottom with left and proper breaks, the best season is through the months of December to March as it has offshore winds, but the place gives you excellent waves throughout the year.
Witch‘s Rock is a world-class surfing spot that allows you to ride unique tubes and fast walls. The best location is in the south of the river, where there are more giant waves.
Witch’s Rock Surf Safari also takes you to Ollie’s Point; is best surfed at low/mid tide and has a sandy, reef bottom for all types of surfers. Ollie’s Point is one of the northernmost points on the west coast of Costa Rica, with a world-class break.
On your way back, it is possible to enjoy some snorkeling time or visit some of the beaches at the Papagayo Gulf. Depending on the tide, you can visit Playa Huevos, Nacascolito, or Palmares. There are excellent spots to observe some underwater life.

Surfing Level: Challenge-Difficult / This is not a beginner’s break; strong winds and currents are present in the area, and waves and pipes can be intense during some parts of the year.
