Volcanic Activity / Natural Hot Springs / Horseback Ride / Waterfall / +
The Miravalles Volcano Tour is one of the best nature and wellness experiences in Guanacaste, combining breathtaking volcanic landscapes, rainforest adventures, natural hot springs, waterfalls, and relaxing volcanic mud baths. Perfect for families, couples, and nature lovers, this full-day adventure lets you experience one of Costa Rica’s most active geothermal areas while surrounded by spectacular scenery and abundant wildlife.
Located in the Guanacaste Mountain Range, the Miravalles Volcano Tour takes you to the impressive Miravalles Volcano, where volcanic activity has shaped a landscape filled with steaming fumaroles, bubbling mud pots, sulfur vents, thermal pools, and lush tropical forest. During your visit, you’ll walk through the volcanic complex, admire the enormous crater, and learn about the powerful geothermal forces that continue to shape this remarkable destination.
The scenic drive to Miravalles is an experience in itself. As you travel through the picturesque town of Guayabo and the surrounding countryside, you’ll pass rolling cattle ranches, traditional farms, and charming rural villages that showcase the authentic beauty and culture of Guanacaste. The mountain views become more spectacular as you approach the volcano, making the journey just as memorable as the destination.
One of the highlights of the Miravalles Volcano Tour is visiting two beautiful waterfalls hidden within the tropical rainforest. Part of the adventure includes riding a tractor through the property before continuing on foot along forest trails. You’ll cross a 40-meter hanging bridge overlooking the waterfalls, offering incredible photo opportunities while immersing yourself in Costa Rica’s rich biodiversity. Keep an eye out for colorful birds, butterflies, monkeys, and a variety of native plants that thrive in this protected environment.
After exploring the rainforest, it’s time to relax in the volcanic hot springs. The geothermal waters are naturally heated and rich in minerals believed to have therapeutic properties. You can also enjoy the famous volcanic mud baths, where mineral-rich mud is applied to the skin before rinsing off in the warm thermal pools, leaving you feeling refreshed and rejuvenated. Steam rooms, natural saunas, bubbling mud pots, clay ponds, and sulfur springs complete this unforgettable outdoor spa experience.
Your day also includes access to comfortable visitor facilities with bathrooms, changing rooms, and a restaurant where you’ll enjoy a delicious traditional Costa Rican lunch prepared with fresh local ingredients.
