Playas del Coco, Guanacaste

Playas del Coco (Coco Beach) is among the most well-known beaches in the country and it is the entrance gate to the Papagayo Gulf. It is located just 25 minutes drive from the Daniel Oduber International Airport, Liberia. A very popular area for sport fishing and scuba diving. This is the largest village in the Guanacaste coastline.

Known primarily as the gateway for surfers to reach places like Witches Rock, Potrero Grande, or Ollie’s Point. This busy beach is a prime scuba diving spot, with many sites to discover the local marine life. Very popular among the locals, Playas del Coco has a well-developed infrastructure.  This beautiful beach is easily accessible all year round with good roads. As well it is plenty of shops, restaurants, bars, banks, ATM, discos, pharmacies, casinos, hotels, resorts, and markets.

The nightlife here is also quite good, so if you happen to visit the area during Christmas or Easter week expect to find a lot of people here partying ‘beach style.’ The beach of Playas del Coco itself is a grayish-brown and the tide here often remains quite low. Surrounded by steep cliffs and hills, this horseshoe-shaped bay area is the ideal place to have some fun. However, if you are looking for a quiet spot to relax, try staying away from the center of town, where most of the fun happens.

From here you can also head out to Las Pelonas Islands, Catalinas, and Bat Islands. All excellent sites to spot turtles, sharks, and octopuses in the natural environment. The main attraction of this beach is its excellent variety of tourist facilities and great weather. Besides fishing excursions, sailing and catamaran tours here are also a must to do. Many tourists also use Playas del Coco as a base camp because of its affordable accommodations. This is a 4 km long beach visited mostly by professional surfers looking for bigger waves. Playa Conchal is renowned for its white sand made of shell dust product of erosion over the years. This is a beautiful paradise with turquoise, calm waters. There are no services in this area for what you have to bring whatever you need to stay around.

  • Nicaragua One Day Tour

    Nicaragua One Day Tour from Guanacaste starts early in the morning when we pick you up and we start driving towards the border with Nicaragua. Before arriving at the border we stop for a delicious typical breakfast at the town of La Cruz.

    Once at the border our guides will take your passports and proceed with all the paperwork at the migration offices. Meanwhile, we take you to the duty-free shops where you will find products such as clothing, liquor and other products free of taxes.

    We continue with the Nicaragua One Day Tour later when we make a short stop at the edge of the Great Lake of Nicaragua. Here you can take amazing pictures of the world’s largest island in a freshwater lake, Ometepe.

    The next stop in the Nicaragua One Day Tour takes you towards the majestic crater of the Masaya Volcano. The volcano is fully active and the gases emanating from the crater create an impressive cloud in the sky. On clear days you can see the lava in the center of the crater.

    We continue down to the city of Masaya, where we expect a hearty lunch and then visit the craft colorful Masaya market. Here you can buy souvenirs at very good prices and with amazing quality.

    Later we move to Granada Colonial City founded in 1524. We take a hike through the city center for a while, here you can see the different colonial building and churches.
